Public transport

There are good bus connections from Siilinjärvi. There are direct express bus connections to Helsinki and Oulu.

Between the centres of Kuopio and Siilinjärvi, there is a rich local transport service, in many respects competitive with passenger car transport. Similarly, almost all urban areas in the municipality have good weekday connections to both the municipality centre and Kuopio.

Timetables are divided into long-distance, regional, rural and local services. Long-distance and regional services are high-speed services along main roads. Rural services are intra-municipal services that run on school days and are designed to serve schoolchildren and residents in rural areas. Local traffic serves the various residential areas, both in the centre of the municipality and between Kuopio and Silinjärvi.

Services

PALI is a form of transport for all, a hybrid between traditional bus transport and taxi transport. PALI transport is provided by minibus and can be booked in advance by calling. The bus will take you to your doorstep and will get you as close to your destination as possible. The Siilinjärvi PALI bus does not have a fixed route, but runs in scheduled areas based on orders. The PALI bus can be used by anyone. The PALI is an accessible vehicle, so it is suitable for people with prams or pushchairs, wheelchairs or wheelchairs. If necessary, drivers will assist customers in boarding and alighting.

PALI timetables

The PALI bus timetable shows what time the buses will be running in which area. For example, the PALI bus is in the Hamula area on Mondays from 12-13 and picks up customers from there according to their orders. As a general rule, the service goes to the city centre. On Mondays, the PALI bus will take you back to Hamula between 15.00 and 16.00. For help with the timetable, please consult the transport order number.

To order transport, call 050 362 7980. The telephone number is the Pali transport operator’s own direct order number. The call will be charged at the customer’s telephone operator rate.

The order number is open Mon-Fri 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Transport must be ordered in advance, by 3 p.m. on the previous working day. You can order transport for several days in one phone call

Ticket prices for PALI services from 30.6.2025

A new, previously announced, fare structure will be introduced for PALI services. As a result, the various discount and free groups will no longer be used on PALI services. In future, the price of a single trip, for example, will be €4.00 for an adult, regardless of the payment method.

Fare for a service: one-way ticket price €

Adult 4,00 €

Child 2,20 €

Passengers with pushchairs, wheelchairs or wheelchairs pay the normal fare for their journey on the service. There are also no other separate age discounts, such as the senior discount.

Travel free of charge:

– child under 7 years old

– war veterans

– an accompanying person travelling with a disabled person, when the disabled person presents an EU disability card with a visual impairment, transport service or A label. The disabled person will be charged the normal fare.
