Joining the waste management system
All appendices are in Finnish.
Residential and leisure properties must organise waste management by joining the municipal waste management system. Single-family houses and holiday homes can be connected to the municipal waste collection system by means of their own waste container, a group waste container or an area collection point. The personal waste container is emptied at regular intervals, as agreed in the waste management regulations. The communal bin is a common bin for neighbouring properties. You can set up a collection point for mixed waste and also for biowaste.
The regional collection point is mainly suitable for permanent residential properties outside the urban area and especially for leisure properties outside the area of individual waste collection.
Waste collection from a holiday home can be handled through the waste bin of a private house if the properties are nearby (i.e. a ‘home-cottage bin’) or in exceptional cases if the holiday home is located outside the individual property collection system and there is no reasonably accessible regional collection point on the way home.
