Veterinary services
Municipal veterinarians are responsible for the health and disease management of animals living in the cooperation are. The veterinary services are responsible for the basic health and disease treatment of all domestic animals. It also provides emergency veterinary care at all times of the year and at all times of the day. Veterinary care services are provided to the co-operative area (Siilinjärvi, Lapinlahti, Rautavaara, Kaavi, Tuusniemi) and the Kuopio region from a total of 8 different practices.
The veterinary service also carries out the following tasks:
- the control and prevention of animal and infectious diseases, including the prevention of zoonotic diseases transmissible from animals to humans
- controls on the production of food of animal origin and the disposal of animal waste
- animal welfare control
The leading municipal veterinarian is in charge of municipal veterinary care and veterinary emergency services, with the exception of the small animal emergency services in the Kuopio and Siilinjärvi cooperation area outside office hours.

Fees
Municipal veterinarians charge for the care of animals on the basis of the municipal veterinary fees included in the doctors’ collective agreement.
The total bill consists of the visit fee, the procedure fee, any travel expenses to the animal, the cost of medicines, supplies and feed, and VAT.
In addition, all surgeries have a small clinic fee and equipment fees for equipment owned by the municipality.
