Monitoring plan

The environmental health surveillance plan is based on specific legislation and a government decree on the municipal environmental health surveillance plan. The plan must take into account the national control programmes and the priorities contained therein, taking into account local conditions and the structure of the economy.

Regular monitoring under the environmental health monitoring plan is subject to a charge to the operator under the legislation. The Environmental Health Service charges a fee for inspections, sampling and testing under the plan, in accordance with the Environmental Health Service’s tariff. The fees are based on the number of inspections and the time spent on inspections. The monitoring plan for 2025was approved at the meeting of the Environmental Health Committee on 17 December 2024 (§ 23). The control plan for the Joint Action Area is based on the joint national control programme for environmental health drawn up by the National Food Authority and Valvira.
