Working and holiday periods

Holiday surveys are carried out electronically using Edlevo. As the holiday period approaches, the questionnaire opens and a message is sent to the carers in Edlevo. Carers must respond to the questionnaire by the deadline. The carer indicates the child’s holiday and if the holiday is for individual days/weeks or not at all, the information must be recorded in any case. In this way, we are also informed of the need for care during the period in question, and there is no need for the carer to make a separate on-call booking. The carer can change his/her previously made holiday declaration via Edlevo by the deadline. Further information on holiday arrangements/changes will be sent to carers via Edlevo.

Operational period 2025-26

Christmas holiday 24.12.25 -6.1.2026

24.12.25-6.1.2026 open Kindergarten Pikkusiili. All other municipal early childhood education centres will be closed during the Christmas holidays.
If necessary, the facilities in Toivala Slice will be opened.

Note: The Christmas holiday for pre-school education starts on 22.12.2025. The spring semester for pre-school education starts on 7.1.2026.

Winter holiday week 10 (2.-8.3.2026)

During the winter holidays, care is provided at the Pilvilinna Day Care Centre, while the other day care centres are closed during the holidays.

All municipal early childhood education places are closed Fri 3.4. – Mon 6.4.2026

Daycare in Pikkusiil is offered on a shift basis if necessary only due to the shift of the carers Fri 3.4.26 – Mon 6.4.2025.

Summer holiday period 1.6. – 31.8.2026

The kindergartens/preschools attached to the schools (Kasurila pre-school, Kehvo kindergarten, Kuuslahti kindergarten and Pöljä kindergarten) will close their doors during the school summer holidays, when children in need of early childhood education will be cared for in nearby kindergartens. If the number of children in need of early childhood education is still low in the first week of August in these establishments, care can still be provided in day-care centres in the surrounding area.

For summer holidays, families are granted a reduction if they organise their childcare themselves for at least 14 calendar days in a row (including weekend days). There may be several such periods during the summer holiday period. The periods of leave must be indicated in the summer holiday questionnaire, which is open in Edlevo from 3 to 12 May 2026.

Midsummer (19.-21.6.2026)

All municipal early childhood education places are closed Fri 19.6 – Sun 21.6.2026

Daycare in Pikkusiil is offered on a shift basis only due to the shift of the caregivers on Fri 19.6. – Sun 21.6.2026.

Summer Day Care 2026 (date to be determined when school start date in August 2026 becomes known)
The day nursery “Little Wing” and the day nursery “Pilvilinna” will be open during the summer.
