Health and specific sports
The aim is to develop health and specific sports services in cooperation with different sectors. Siilinjärvi’s special sports groups are mainly organised by local special sports organisations. More information on the sports groups can be found in the autumn health sports calendar. Services provided by the municipality:
Pensioners’ discount card to Fontanella and Kunnonpaikka in Siilinjärvi. The card is valid on weekdays during Fontanella opening hours and at Kunnonpaikka on weekdays from 8.00 to 15.00. The card is issued at the sports services office, tel. Information 044 7401364. You must present your pension card, skeleton card or decision.
Siilinjärvi was involved (2018-2021) in the Strength in Old Age programme coordinated by the Age Institute. Municipalities receive mentoring support for their three-year development work from the Age Institute; material and free training. Despite the interest, we were able to get many things done, which you can see in the annex below. Although the actual Strength for Ageing programme is behind us, we will continue to work on health and physical activity for older people, and to take forward and further develop the models and practices that have been proven to work well in the project.
