Registration of the animal keeper and the holding
The obligation to register as an animal keeper and to register animal accommodation applies to professional and hobby animal husbandry when one of the following is under management:
- cattle, pigs, sheeps, goats, llamas and alpacas
- all poultry
- farmed game animals
- beehives
- fur farms
- equidae
The notification of the start of animal keeping must be made at the latest when the animal arrives on the holding, but you may need an animal identification number already when the animal is transferred, in which case you must register in advance. You can also use the online application to edit and cancel information you have previously registered.

- Make a declaration to all the animal shelters you use.
- Once an animal holding facility is registered, indicate the species of animals kept in the facility and the date of commencement of animal housing on the animal housing declaration form.

If you keep cattle, pigs, sheeps or goats, make detailed transaction records (including purchases, removals and movements of animals) in separate cattle, pig, sheep and goat registers. Horses must have an individual identification document and their details are reported to the equine database that issued the identification document.
