Pre-school education

Pre-primary education became compulsory from 1.8.2015. Children aged 6 and over who start primary school the following autumn are obliged to attend free pre-primary education. If a child needs early childhood education in addition to pre-primary education, a fee is charged based on the Early Childhood Education and Care Customer Fee Act. Siilinjärvi has around 250 children in pre-primary education.

In pre-primary education, the child experiences the importance of a group of children of the same age in learning. The child experiences the joy of learning and learns to face new challenges with courage and creativity.

Play is at the heart of pre-school education and learning through play is central. The learning situations form meaningful units. The aim is to promote the development of the child’s personality, to arouse and maintain curiosity about the world around them and to motivate them to learn.

Early childhood education and care, pre-primary education and basic education form a coherent whole for the child. Parents, together with the staff responsible for pre-school education, are responsible for the child’s regular attendance at pre-school education. Cooperation with the home is a prerequisite for the success of pre-school education.
