Customer fees
The fees are based on the scope of the service chosen for the child, the size of the family and the gross income. Early childhood education and care fees are set according to the situation at the time of payment, either on the basis of verifiable or estimated income. If no income statement is submitted within the time limit, the fee is set at the highest rate (€311/month).
Parents must either accept the highest fee or declare their income with the necessary supporting documents, or accept the use of information from the income register to determine the fee no later than the month in which the child’s early childhood education starts.

- alimony
- capital income
- Forest revenue
If the family’s circumstances change, e.g. income changes by > +/- 10% or family size changes, the Early Childhood Education Service Secretary must be informed immediately.
The customer fee for early childhood education and care will not be changed retroactively unless the fee is based on incorrect information provided by the guardians(Customer Fee Act § 12).
Shifts and agreed days off must be notified by 24.00 on the Sunday before the week of treatment, i.e. seven days before the need for treatment. If a day of sickness or other absence occurs on a pre-booked day, the day in question counts as a day of care.
On application, a family may be granted a reduction or exemption from the client fee on the basis of maintenance obligations, means of subsistence or dependency considerations.
Determination of the customer fee
The customer contribution is calculated on the total gross income of the family. The total family size includes persons living in a common household in a married or unmarried relationship and their minor children living in the same household.
If the family size exceeds 6, €275 is added to the income limit for each subsequent minor child in the family.
The maximum monthly fee for full-time early childhood education and care is €311, charged for the youngest child in the family, and the minimum fee per child, based on income, is €30. The fee for another child in the same family attending early childhood education and care is up to 40% of the fee for the youngest child in the family, up to a maximum of €124 per month. The fee for each subsequent child is 20% of the fee for the youngest child.

Fee for early childhood education and care not withdrawn
If the place allocated to the child is not taken up by the guardians and has not been cancelled before the start of the early childhood education and care, the guardians may be charged half the monthly fee set by law.
If a child’s early childhood education place is reserved for the duration of the carers’ leave and is not cancelled, half the monthly fee set by law may be charged. However, even if the family’s income is so low that no monthly fee has been set for the child (less than €30), half of the minimum fee may be charged for early childhood education and care not used within the meaning of this paragraph.
