High school learning makes extensive use of information technology and a variety of e-learning environments. The aim of student support is to promote the well-being of school communities, prevent problems from arising and provide early support for those who need it. The aim is to promote learning, health, well-being, safety, and cooperation between home and school.

Student welfare is the responsibility of all teachers working in the school community, as well as the staff responsible for student welfare services, such as curators, psychologists and nurses.

Student support work is carried out at three levels:

  1. Siilinjärvi has a student welfare steering group that takes care of the planning, development, guidance and evaluation of student welfare work and services. The group is chaired by Principal Tiina Tuuvio.
  2. Every school or educational institution has a pupil or student welfare team, whose tasks include community-based student welfare services responsible for the well-being of the school community.
  3. Individual pupil and student care includes school and student health care services, psychological and curatorial services and multidisciplinary student care for individual pupils or students. If necessary, and with the agreement of the pupil or student and, as a rule, his/her guardian, a group of experts is set up to support the pupil’s or student’s well-being and to deal with the individual pupil’s or student’s issues.
Student welfare work is described in the Siilinjärvi curricula for pre-primary, basic and upper secondary education, the student welfare plans for pre-primary and basic education and the student welfare plan for upper secondary education.

The organisation of student welfare services, i.e. student health care and curator and psychologist services, was transferred to the Wellbeing services county of North Savo from 1.1.2023.
Contact information can be found on the school’s homepage and on the website of the Wellbeing services.
