Twinning

The international activities of Siilinjärvi municipality mainly mean twinning activities. Siilinjärvi has five twinned municipalities:

• Elverum in Norway
• Sunne in Sweden
• Amberg in Germany
• Hajdúböszörmény Hungary
• Kamennogorsk in Russia

At municipal level, the municipal government is responsible for twinning activities.

With all twinned municipalities, municipalities, organisations and communities can engage in a variety of joint activities, such as visits, cultural and sporting events. The purpose of these visits and events is to promote interaction between the inhabitants of the twinned municipalities.
