Decision-making

The decision-making process of a local authority can be divided into five stages: initiation, preparation, decision-making, notification and implementation.

In Siilinjärvi, the highest decision-making authority is the 43-member Municipal Council, elected every four years in municipal elections. The municipal council is responsible for the municipality’s operations and finances. The council also elects the members of the municipal board and committees.

In addition to the Municipal Council, the institutions of Siilinjärvi Municipality are the Municipal Board, the welfare department under the Municipal Board, the Education Board, the Technical Board, the Roads Department under the Technical Board, the Public Authorities Board, and the supra-municipal Rural Board and the Environmental Health Board. In addition, Siilinjärvi has a statutory Inspection Board and a Central Election Board.

The agendas and minutes of all the institutions are available electronically on Dynasty. The municipality’s case management system will be updated on 11 April 2022, so minutes can be requested from the municipal registry before 11 April 2022. In future, the minutes will be available for inspection for two years after the meeting. Agendas will be published after their completion. After the meetings, the minutes will replace the agendas. Please note that minutes will only be published once they have been checked.

You can read a summary of the decisions taken, i.e. the decision notice, in the current news section of the municipality’s website immediately after the meeting.

The decisions of public officials are published on the municipality’s website if the decision is subject to a general right of appeal or a special information interest.
