Hazardous waste
All appendices are in Finnish.
Hazardous waste is waste which, because of its chemical or other properties, may present a particular risk or harm to health or the environment.
Jätekukko Oy’s Siilinjärvi sorting stationaccepts, free of charge, hazardous waste generated in housing, agriculture and forestry, such as oils, batteries, refrigerators, fluorescent tubes and electrical and electronic waste (WEEE). Expired medicines and thermometers are accepted at the Siilinjärvi pharmacy (Kuiluntie 8) and the Vuorela pharmacy (Simpantie 2).
Discarded batteries can be taken free of charge to shops selling batteries. Old electrical and electronic equipment can also be taken to the shops that sell it when you buy a new one. For larger waste items (e.g. waste oils), Fortum, for example, has a collection service.
