Incineration of waste
All appendices are in Finnish.
As a general rule, the disposal of waste by incineration is prohibited. In a central heating boiler or other fixed heating appliance or stove, twigs and branches and clean, dry, unimpregnated and unpainted wood may be burnt. Paper and cardboard may be burnt only as a kindling.
Open burning is prohibited in the town centre. Outside the urban area, you may burn twigs, branches, stumps, leaves and clean wood with an open fire.
Incineration must not cause harm to the environment and the neighbourhood. Therefore, neighbours should be informed about open burning. The emergency services do not issue permits for open fires, but would like to be notified of larger ones. Burning and large open fires that generate a lot of smoke, such as burning of wood chips and straw or bark, must be reported to the fire station.
