Private roads

The operation of private roads is governed by the Private Roads Act 560/2018.

All private roads must register traffic management information in the Finnish Transport Agency’s Digiroad system. In addition, the contact details of the private road must be entered in the Land Registry of Private Roads of the Land Surveyor’s Office.

The information must be provided even if there are no traffic restrictions on the road (at least the municipality, the name of the road association and the name of the road).

Grants

Siilinjärvi municipality maintenance grant for private roads

The permanently inhabited part of a private road is at least 500 m
A road association has been established on a private road
The Road Association has submitted up-to-date information to the Land Surveyor’s Office’s Private Road Register and DigiRoad.
The deadline for applications for maintenance grants is 31 March each year. Applications should be sent to the Rural Services of Sydän-Savo, Kapteeninväylä 5, 70900 Toivala or by e-mail to maaseutupalvelut(at)siilinjarvi.fi

Basic renovation grant from Siilinjärvi municipality

May be applied for on a part of a private road used by a permanent settlement. The grant is conditional on an application for and approval of a state grant, a cost estimate approved by the Economic Development Centre and up-to-date information on the road in Digiroad and the Private Road Register. The maximum grant is 15% of the costs incurred. The basic improvement grant can be applied for all year round by submitting a free application.

Siilinjärvi municipality’s shares on private roads

If the municipality is involved in a private road, an annual report must be sent to the municipality:

Send the payment list to heikki.pietikainen(at)siilinjarvi.fi and tekniset(at)siilinjarvi.fi
Toll invoices are sent as e-invoices, see below for more detailed instructions
If the annual meeting has dealt with matters concerning the municipality’s real estate, the minutes of the meeting should be sent to the municipality at heikki.pietikainen(at)siilinjarvi.fi
If there are any changes to the road unit calculation, the updated calculation must be sent to heikki.pietikainen(at)siilinjarvi.fi

Municipal road toll billing

The municipality processes all purchase invoices electronically. We prefer to receive invoices as e-invoices.

If you do not have the possibility to send online invoices, you can use the free supplier portal provided by the municipality of Siilinjärvi.

The supplier portal is a service where invoices are created and submitted electronically if the sender of the invoice does not have an invoicing system. The Supplier Portal requires registration the first time. To register as a portal user, please first contact ostolaskut.siilinjarvi(at)monetra.fi.
