Area affected by the stormwater system
All appendices are in Finnish.
The municipality is responsible for managing stormwater in a zoning area(Land Use Act 103i). The municipality may designate areas outside the zoning plan if there is a municipal stormwater system in the area or if the area discharges stormwater into the system.
By law, properties served by a municipal stormwater system fall within the area of influence of the stormwater system.
Being part of an affected area does not require a concrete connection to the system. Thus, properties that discharge stormwater into the municipal system or that may discharge stormwater into the municipal system during a rainfall event, for example, are included in the zone of influence.
The following criteria can be used to define the properties within the area affected by a municipal stormwater system:
- properties that discharge all or part of their stormwater into the municipal stormwater system
- properties that may discharge stormwater into the municipal stormwater system under certain circumstances
- properties served by stormwater management in the municipality’s public areas
The annexes North Silinjärvi and South Silinjärvi show the areas affected by the Siilinjärvi municipality’s stormwater system.
