The harbours of Siilinjärvi are situated in the Iso-Kalla waterway system, which provides boaters with unobstructed routes to the extensive waterways of Kallavesi and Juurusvesi. From Siilinjärvi, there is extensive access to the whole of Lake Saimaa.

Vuorela Harbour: Routes on Lake Kallavesi

The Vuorela visitor jetty is situated in South Siilinjärvi, right on the shore of the northern part of Lake Kallavesi.

The Kuopio route: From Vuorela, the journey continues southwards under the Kallansillat bridges. The clearance height under the road bridge is 12 metres and under the railway bridge 5.2 metres. The route leads directly to Kuopio passenger harbour and Maljalahden guest harbour.

Kallavesi’s day-trip harbours: It’s easy to take a detour from the main route to Kuopio’s popular day-trip islands, such as Hietasalo or Iivarinsalo.

The Iisalmi route: From Kallavesi, you can turn north-west towards Maaninka. The route runs via the Ahkiolahti and Nerkoo canals all the way to Iisalmi.

Siilinlahti Harbour: The Juurusvesi and Nilsiä routes

Siilinlahti Harbour in Kirkonkylä is situated at the head of a narrower bay (Kanavatie), from where the channel opens out onto the wide waters of Juurusvesi.

The Tahko and Nilsiä waterway: From Juurusvesi, the route turns north-east towards Akonvesi and, via Muuruvesi, joins the Nilsiä route. Via the Lastukoski Canal, you can reach Lake Syvärinjärvi, on the shores of which lie the port of Nilsiä and the Tahkovuori tourist centre.

Access to Kallavesi (Jännevirta): Juurusvesi is at the same level as Kallavesi. From Juurusvesi, you can drive south-west under the Jännevirta bridges, where you’ll join the main route to Kallavesi coming from Vuorela.
