Notice of the meeting of the Municipal Board of 9.2.2026
The Municipal Board convened on 9.2.2026. Below is a summary of the decisions taken:
- The Municipal Board approved the environmental protection regulations and will submit them to the Municipal Council for final approval.
o Aim to prevent pollution and minimise it´s harmful effects while taking into account local conditions. - The Municipal Board decided to make the draft coastal and village plan for the Northwest Siilinjärvi area available for public comments and statements.
- The Municipal Council decided to approve the MAL Regional Sustainable Transport Plan (SUMP) 2040.
- According to Article 41 of the EU TEN-T Regulation, a sustainable urban mobility plan shall be adopted in urban nodes.
- The plan takes into account all three (3) dimensions of sustainable development: ecological, economic and social sustainability.
- The measures in the plan are grouped under the following themes: walking and cycling, public transport and travel chains, information, communication and marketing, car-sharing and carpooling, logistics, and resources and funding.

- The Municipal Board approved the 2026 land transfer prices for building land.
- The Municipal Board examined the initiatives received in 2025 and will bring them to the attention of the Council.

- The Municipal Board discussed the response to the council initiative: the Siilinjärvi Municipality Family-friendly workplace programme.
- The programme is based on a nationally recognised model grounded in research by the Family Federation of Finland (Väestöliitto).
- The initiative highlights the importance of family-friendliness for staff well-being, commitment, employability and the image of the municipality as an employer.
- An initial assessment foresees the programme beginning in spring 2026.
- The Municipal Board approved the statement of the Municipality of Siilinjärvi regarding the renewal of mental health and substance abuse services in the North Savo Wellbeing Area (R5).
- In its opinion, Siilinjärvi emphasises the importance of maintaining local services, especially for clients requiring intensive care, and highlights the growing need for mental health and substance abuse services for the elderly.
