Siilinjärvi is gauging interest in the letting and operation of the Bunker
Siilinjärvi Municipality is launching a market survey into the letting and operation of the Bunkkeri building. The aim is to find an operator or group of operators who will develop the historic building into a vibrant, multi-purpose cultural venue.
The Bunker is a former primary school, built in 1923 from brick, which is to be refurbished between 2025–2027 to transform it into an energy-efficient and modern facility, with co-funding from the EU Regional Development Fund. The building’s future use will focus on cultural, event and leisure activities, as well as services that promote community spirit and wellbeing. You can read more about the Bunkkeri project here.
The local authority is currently gathering market views, with a particular focus on:
· Business activities and service packages suitable for the bunker
· leasing and operating models
· the organisation of activities and opportunities for cooperation
The request for information forms part of the preparatory work ahead of the launch of the actual tender process, which is scheduled to take place during 2026.
According to the plans, the first and second floors of the building (approximately 573 m²) will be let to a single operator or group of operators who:
· acts as the operator of the premises
· sublets premises to its customers
· is responsible for day-to-day operations and running the business
The council aims to establish year-round activities at Bunkkeri that will complement the range of services available in the Ahmo area and Siilinjärvi town centre. At the same time, the council is reserving the option to make the premises available to local associations and communities on agreed terms.
Take part in the market dialogue
The local authority is inviting businesses, organisations and other stakeholders to take part in a market dialogue. In their responses, participants are asked to share their views on, for example:
· the business concept
· places similar to this one
· rental and contract templates
· corporate social responsibility and the development of our premises
You can submit your responses and obtain further information via the Hilma service for public sector procurement or using this form.
