The Wibit course brings water games to Siilinlahti

A Wibit water obstacle course will be set up at Siilinlahti beach for two weeks at the turn of June and July, bringing fun and exercise to swimmers of all ages. Wibit is a floating water obstacle course where you can balance, climb and slide across the water. The course is being set up as part of a participatory budgeting scheme for children, in which the children came up with ideas last autumn and voted on how to spend 10,000 euros.

Originally, the plan was to install a Wibit course at both Siilinlahti and Simpan beach in Vuorela. However, as the planning and procurement process progressed, it became apparent that the courses to be installed this summer would need to be secured to jetties at both ends. For this reason, it is not technically feasible to install the course at Simpan beach.

Although the track will only be built at one location, the entire participatory budgeting allocation will be used. The procurement proved to be more expensive than estimated, and the project also includes lifeguard services, which add to the costs.

Although the course will only be available at one location, the aim is for as many people as possible to have the chance to try it out and enjoy this water sports opportunity over the summer.

Wibit course opening hours:
29 June–3 July, Mon–Fri 10am–6pm
7–11 July, Tue–Fri 10am–6pm and Sat 10am–4pm

Lifeguards are on duty during opening hours. Lifejackets are compulsory in the pool and can be borrowed from the beach.
