Environmental cleanliness inspections of business premises start

In May 2026, the Siilinjärvi Municipal Authority Board will carry out environmental cleanliness inspections in the municipality of Siilinjärvi, with the participation of the municipality’s building permit engineer, environmental protection inspector, environmental protection trainee and members of the Authority Board as representatives of the Board.

The Board started its systematic environmental cleanliness monitoring in spring 2017, making this the tenth cleanliness monitoring exercise this year. The systematic monitoring has been shown to be effective.

The inspections will take place on Tuesday 26.5.2026. This year, the cleanliness inspections will mainly target businesses in the Radantaus industrial estate, but inspections will also be carried out at individual other businesses.

The purpose of the inspections is to check whether storage in the yard areas of the plots complies with the provisions of the Building Act and any zoning regulations. The inspections will also determine whether there are any goods or materials considered waste or end-of-life vehicles and other waste considered waste stored on the sites, the storage of which would require special conditions (e.g. soil protection) under environmental protection and/or waste legislation. Inspections also examine the organisation of waste management in businesses.

For more information on inspections, please contact Meiju Nurro, Environmental Protection Inspector, tel. 044 740 1412 and building permit engineer Jenni Laitinen tel. 044 740 1438.
