Areas of responsibility for parks

All appendices are in Finnish.
Green design
Green design is based on a resident-centred approach. Green plans are made available for consultation at the draft stage and at the time of adoption of the plan itself.
Construction
The parks department builds most of the landscaping projects in-house.
Maintenance
The municipality of Siilinjärvi has about 42 hectares of maintained parks and 39 playgrounds, in addition to the municipality’s own and the Finnish Transport Agency’s roadside green areas connected to the church village.
The landowner and the holder of the plot are obliged to keep the green strip and ditch up to 3 metres from the plot boundary tidy.
Please note that the control of invasive species on your plot is the responsibility of the plot owner or holder.
Felling of trees
A landscape permit from the building control authority is required to cut down trees in a zoning area. The same applies in a general plan area if a tree preservation order has been imposed(Building Act 53 and 54).
For the felling of individual trees on plots in the zoning area, please contact the building inspector, and for felling outside the plots, contact the parks manager.
A general guide for the installation of solar electricity and possible woodcutting. Price list for tree removal 2025.
These guidelines have been created as general guidelines for the implementation of solar electricity and potential tree removals will always be considered on a case-by-case basis.
